Javi Villa was able to make up for his bad performance on the Saturday as the Spanish driver gradually got better as the time went by this weekend. He got the best out of his Dallara and was therefore able to battle it out with the leaders, but his lowly position on the grid meant that he could not get as close to the front as he would have liked. Finally, he found a good pace and almost finished one place higher, but he had to make do with tenth position.
After his great victory in the long race, Giorgio Pantano had to retire halfway through today`s. The Italian who had started with wet tyres, had to change them when he was well-placed in the classification, and that cost him a lot. After trying to catch the leaders up he grazed Grosjean and that took him off the track, at the same time he damaged his car, and so he was obliged to retire. In spite of this he still leads the World Championship having a 7 point advantage over Senna.
The victory in this short race on the Sunday went to Sebastián Buemi. The Swiss driver, with the Trust Team Arden, overtook his teammate who leading at that moment, the Dutchman Yelmer Buurman, and when there were just 7 laps left he got away from him and crossed the finishing alone. Third place was for Luca Filippi aherad of Di Grassi.
