Raikkonen is confident he can win the world title

The Ferrari driver is not surrendering the title fight in spite of having a 20 point disadvantage compared to the leader, Lewis Hamilton. Raikkonen admits he will have difficulties achieving this objective, but he knows that he has a reliable ally: his car, which he described as “excellent”. Whilst he is resting his team is working to set up his car even better so that he returns to the competition at the highest level.

Second podium finish for Heidfeld

BMW Sauber has become, in its own , the third best team in this year`s championship behind McLaren and Ferrari. Nick Heidfeld rounded off a great weekend by finishing on the podium, after having to hold off attacks by Alonso who desperately wanted to get past him. Therefore the German driver enjoyed his second podium of the season; he was second in the Canadian GP.

Nelson Piquet turns down Spyker

The Dutch team still has not announced the name of the driver that will replace Christijan Alberts. On the list of possible candidates there is already one who has refused the offer, Nelson Piquet Junior has confirmed that he will not take up the vacant seat in the Spyker. He hopes to get a more competitive car next season and so make his debut in Formula 1 with good guarantees.

De la Rosa the fastest at Jerez

The McLaren test driver set the best time on the first day of the training sessions programmed at the Spanish circuit of Jerez whose main objective is to prepare for the forthcoming Hungarian GP. On the second day the official drivers out on the track were from all the eight teams there and included Lewis Hamilton, Barrichello, Kovalainen and Kubica.

Australia will not organise a night time race

Bit by bit next year`s calendar is taking shape. In the end the Australian GP will not be a night time race as the CEO of Formula 1, Bernie Ecclestone, had hoped. Moreover, the first date next season will be in Bahrain and not in Australia, which will host the second round and although no date has been published the most probable is 16th March.
