Dani Pedrosa, who got off to a flying start steaming past seven riders, took the lead before curve one. The Repsol Honda rider battled with Rossi for most of the race, and pipped the seven times world champion to the post to finish on the podium. Casey Stoner won the race in front of newcomer Jorge Lorenzo, who couldn’t have gotten off to a better start in the top category after taking second place in Losail.

The Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa made a fantastic getaway overtaking seven riders and managed to lead the pack for the first few turns. Casey Stoner, who started with stability problems, did not start well and found it difficult to pick up the pace set out by the leading riders. However, the Australian rider climbed positions lap by lap until he took the lead.

A new generation has taken over in the first race of the season with three young riders on the Qatari podium. The race started with an exciting battle among the five riders in the leading group. Then as the laps passed, Casey Stoner and Jorge Lorenzo stretched their advantage and maintained the distance until the end of the race. The Spanish rider has surprised everyone achieving excellent results in his debut race in the category.

The US Repsol Honda rider Nicky Hayden finished tenth in front of Marco Melandri. Andrea Dovizioso had an excellent debut, finishing in fourth place and Alex De Angelis, also a newcomer to this category, fell after losing grip on a turn with just five laps to go.
