Hayden will give an exhibition at the Indianapolis 500
The American rider Nicky Hayden was chosen to show off the new track at the circuit of Indianapolis a couple of weeks ago on an Indie 500 bike, and now the Repsol rider has been chosen once again to give an exhibition at the Indianapolis 500, but this time on a MotoGP machine, the Honda RC212V to be exact. The date will be at the end of May.
Next May Hayden will have a chance to ride in front of his countrymen on one of his own bikes during an exhibition that will be made during the legendary Indianapolis 500 race day. He will ride a Honda RC212V and the American will do just one lap of the oval track, just moments before edition number 92 of this popular well-attended event.
The 2006 World Champion has expressed his enthusiasm for this new date in his diary. “This is a great opportunity for MotoGP, the sponsors and also for me” he said. Moreover, the rider reminded everybody that it is one of the “most famous races on the planet”, this is because the Indianapolis 500 has become the best attended one day sports event in the world.
The rider is confident that “what the fans see and hear next May they will like” and so they will “make plans to return in September” when the World MotoGP Championship is scheduled to race at Indianapolis, the first ever time in the long history of this legendary circuit. The Repsol rider is looking forward to this opportunity. “I just have to go out on the track and show the fans what MotoGP bike can do. This is not a lap where I just wave to the fans from my bike” he explained “When I am on the famous finishing line I want to open the throttle and show how ‘my baby’” goes.
