After an atypical start to the World Motorcycling Championship the competition now has a three-week break before the start of one of the most important dates in the calendar: the race at the circuit of Jerez, a charismatic venue both insie and outside the track. A great spectacle is always on the cards and even more so this year as Stoner will have to beat Pedrosa on his home soil, and Rossi a real specialist at the track in Andalusia.
Jerez is one of the most charismatic circuits in the World Motorcycling Championship , a venue that sees and creates an incedible atmosphere every year – with up to 100 000 fans visiting over the whole weekend. Since it was built in 1986 this track has also hosted Formula 1 test sessions. However, motorcycling and Jerez have always gone hand in hand and it has been the site of the Spanish GP since 1987.
This circuit is very different from the one in Losail. Jerez is a much more demanding track where it is difficult to take advanntage of all the power generated by the bikes and at the same time the riders have to use their braking skills. More problems are to be encountered on the curves that change the riders`direction, difficult because they have to be taken fast.
At this moment the big favourite at the bookies is the Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa, as he knows the circuit like the palm of his hand. However he will not have things all his own way since the Italian Valentino Rossi has a great record at Jerez. The Doctor has won there seven times and this is his chance to show that he is still one of the best riders on the grid.
