The installations at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona are going to have a facelift before the start of the 2009 season. Work will be done on the paddock, the main stand, the other buildings in the vicinity and the press room. Moreover, the owners of the circuit are proposing the creation of a cover for the “pelousse”.
Ramón Praderas, the general manager of the circuit, and Jordi Cañellas, director of marketing, explained that the work will begin shortly and that the project has already been awarded to a construction firm. The work will not interfere with the activities scheduled for 2009 though. They also revealed that they aim to promote activities that take place at the same time as others at the track so that new sources of income are found.
Next year Montemeló will see the Spanish GP on 14th June, this will be the sixth round of the World Championship. The other important date at the circuit, the Spanish Fomula 1 GP will be held on 10th May.
