In MotoGP, Valentino Rossi raced his way to his sixth world title, whereas the Barcelona-born rider, Sete Gibernau, finished in the runner-up spot for the second year running. Dani Pedrosa made his debut in 250cc and equalled the success of 2003 on spectacularly winning the title. In 125cc, the champion was Andrea Dovizioso. However, there were notable performances from Barberá and Lorenzo who finished second and fourth respectively.
