Farewell to parking manoeuvres

Copy GENEVA PALEXPO

The Geneva International Motor Show is exhibiting many cars and new prototypes made by different companies, and just like at any event of this type some are attracting more attention than others, almost exclusively because of their design. One of the main advantages is how versatile the vehicle`s movements are which helps to make parking easier.

After a vist to the Tokyo Show as a prototype two years ago, Nissan is at the Geneva International Motor Show with the new Pivo 2 as one of its most curious new products. This interest could be attributed above all to its design, where its accessibility, mobility and practicality break the mould usually used for this type of multi-purpose vehicles.

Among the most interesting features on this model is the cabin movement. It turns 360º on its own axis so it can be orientated no matter where the wheels are, this undoubtedly aids access to the vehicle and above all makes parking much easier. What is more the mobility of the cabin where the wheels turn up to 90º means that it can be parked without any type of manoeuvre, all that needs to be done is to place the car alongside the parking space and then the wheels do the rest, turning, and the car is parked with just a single sideways movement.

It can only carry three people and these are distributed in a different way from normal, since the driver is in the centre of the cabin, the two passengers are on either side but set back a little. As mentioned above access to the car is also a little different, the Pivo 2 brings to mind the classic Isetta which let the passengers in via the front end. Finally it is worth mentioning the “Agent Robotic”, as it is called by Nissan, mounted on the car and which the driver interacts with. This is a robot located near the steering wheel which, after a lot of research evaluates the driver`s state and is something, according to Nissan, that tries to maintain a calm driving style.
