For the first time ever, Mini offers as standard a model equipped with diesel engine. This is the Mini One D, an attractive four seater whose propulsion unit is an agile turbodiesel with direct injection.
The One D is Mini´s answer to the demand for cars with diesel engines whose sales in Europe are still growing. This is a model conceived for customers who think about economy, but who want at the same time the features of a Mini. This means that this new diesel version of the agile car with four seats will be able to attract new clients. The new diesel comes with a compact 1 400cc four cylinder engine unit, developed together with Toyota, which has a peak power of 55kW/75bhp. With a peak torque of 180Nm at only 2 000rpm, the One D has great powers of recovery. In addition the system of traction and stability control ASC+T, offered as standard, makes the engine power reliable. The One D is also the most economical car in the BMW Group. According to the UE norms for total consumption, the average is only 4.8 litres of diesel per 100km, and so the CO2 emissions are only 127g/km. It has a tank that holds 50 litres consequently it has a range of about 1 000km. Another factor affecting the economy of this car is determined by the service intervals and oil changes which are longer than on petrol engines since the oil only needs to be changed every 25 000km.
