Before starting out on a long trip one must make sure that the luggage is complete and think how it is going to be transported. The first thing to do is to make a list of all the things that will be packed and where they will be stowed. One must remember that its distribution is very important, it should never affect the bike`s natural balance and the rear end should not be loaded excessively.

Depending on the model of motorbike used for the trip, one or other type of bag/box/rack is needed. Among the different type of racks for motorbikes one must know how to choose the most suitable for the bike itself. In general there are two basic types of racks. On the one hand there are saddlebags that are fitted by adjusting their straps to the frame and which are linked at the top at the height of the pillion rider. These come in different materials and in different sizes, and the important thing on any of them is to fix them to the bike well, making sure that the straps cannot get trapped in the chain, wheels, etc.

Another typical system for transport are cases and boxes, these are made of rigid materials and have a large load capacity, and at the same time they are easy to take off the bike, but they require a more complicated installation as the fixing is more permanent. In addition to saddlebags, cases and boxes there are other systems such as tank bags, rear-racks, etc. Another useful piece of advice is that any object that may be needed during the trip is kept handy and within easy reach.
