Gilera GP 800: a new type of scooter

Copy Gilera

The new scooter from Gilera easily exceeds the performance of any other model ever made by the company. The expectations raised by the GP 800 were very high and without a doubt they have been fulfilled. The GP 800 is a machine conceived with the intention of taking a giant stride on the way into making the scooter something more than a tool for moving around the city.

The Gilera GP 800 brings a big rise in the peak engine power and so a different type of ride on a scooter. With a look that is dynamic and refined, it is easily seen that this machine comes from Italy. It has an impressive front end as the GP 800 has a large aluminium fork that is fixed directly to the chassis, and at the rear it uses an adjustable hydraulic monoshock that can be modified according to the load. The new scooter from Gilera uses two five-spoked aluminium wheels, the rear one being 15” and the front 16”. Among the extras on the GP 800 there is a comfortable parking brake that is regulated by a lever.

Turning to the engine, this is one of the main characteristics that differentiates this scooter from the rest of the range – a 75bhp 839cc GP 800 twin engine at 90º, with 4 valves per cylinder. This Gilera unit is líquid cooled and uses electronic injection. The exhaust system is totally separate from the chassis so as to avoid any sort of vibration.

In addition to the good performance and high level of equipment that this new scooter from Gilera is launched with, the firm offers a series of optional complementsto raise the level of comfort on the machine. So there are extras like a rear-box that holds 48 litres, a backrest for the pillion passenger, electric anti-theft and a canvas leg cover.
