New system to locate and recover stolen bikes

The number of two-wheeled vehicles on Spanish roads has been growing continuously over the last few years and is now up to around four million. The two biggest problems faced by owners of bikes and mopeds are where to park and how to stop theft. Right now the number of two-wheeled vehicles stolen is very high in Spain, the latest figures speak of about 100 000 motorbikes stolen every year.

The number of two-wheeled vehicles on the roads of Spain is now up to approximately four million, and more than 300 000 bikes, scooters and mopeds are being registered every year. Of all these vehicles over 96 000 are stolen annually. To try and lower this figure a new system has been presented, this lets a stolen bike be rapidly located and recovered. The theft of two-wheeled vehicles in Spain is above all for one reason, the sale of their parts to third parties after the bike is taken apart.

With this in mind a company has now created and launched a new system that detects and locates stolen motorbikes and which has already been successfully mounted on cars. The system works via a small locating device that is mounted on the bike and not even the owner knows where it is to be found. The system functions via a direct connection with the police as they can locate a stolen vehicle wherever it is. The company that created the system reckons that a stolen bike can be recovered in an average time of less than four hours.
