Mercedes-Benz opens a new test-centre

The German industrial vehicle manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has recently completed the construction of a new test-centre that will check the performance of its trucks and industrial vehicles. This is part of its project to improve its quality control and tests on this type of vehicles. The manufacturer of cars and industrial vehicles has invested around €80m in this new project.

The new premises that Mercedes-Benz has constructed at its plant in Wörth Germany, is another step in its project that is being implemented by the company whose aim is to improve the checks and tests that the firm`s wide range of industrial vehicles, designed and constructed by the firm, are subjected to. About €80m has been invested in the construction of this new centre, its creation was divided into two well-differentiated halves. The first phase ended in spring 2007 and the second and final phase was recently brought to a successful conclusion.

During the inauguration of the centre the person responsible for industrial vehicles at the Daimler consortium, Andreas Renschler, emphasised how important the creation of a network of Daimler Trucks centres is. This new centre where around 300 people will be employed, has 14 types of different floor surfaces so that vehicles can be tested on a wide range of adherences, for example there is one for brake tests, that will evaluate the performance of the vehicles and the different systems mounted on the vehicles made by the firm.
