The Salón Internacional del Automóvil de Madrid – Madrid International Car Show - will open its doors to the public on 23rd May, a date which is almost upon us, and so the big firms are putting the final touches to their preparations and announcing which models they will present in Madrid this year. The latest announcement has come from Citroën which has some new products lined up for the show.
The first quarter of 2008 has closed with positive figures recorded in the European commercial vehicle market, which with its approximately 700 300 registrations, has seen an increase of 1.4% compared to the same period in 2007. This growth has been sustained after a fall of 4.9% recorded in the sector last March.
The Swedish industrial vehicle manufacturer Scania has had an uneasy time over the last few months, but it seems that the purchase of 32 % of the capital by Volkswagen and consequently the control of the company will ward off any hostile takeovers that may have been in the pipeline at other firms. The truth is that the company`s situation had made things very uncertain at the firm for almost ten years, and so the arrival of Volkswagen has been well-received.
