Second International Juan Antonio Fernández del Campo Roads Innovation Prize

After the great success of the 2005 prize, the Spanish Road Association Foundation  (FAEC) has recently held the second edition of the International Roads Innovation Prize. The FAEC has already received the first pieces of work, which show the notable expectations that this contest has inspired in the Spanish-speaking roads world. 

This international prize hopes to contribute to the development of road technology worldwide with studies and research on roads-related subjects. It takes its inspiration from the late Antonio Fernández del Campo. This Doctor of Paths, Channels and Ports Engineering was President of the AEC for a decade. Just as with the first prize, Jose Luis Elvira, Technical Director of the Highways Department of the Ministry of Development and Public Works, is the President of a Panel of Judges made up of road experts.

This international contest is sponsored by Caja Caminos, Repsol YPF and Cepsa–Proas. It has the institutional collaboration of the Highways Department of the Community of Madrid Transport and Infrastructures Council. It also has support from businesses such as Sacyr, Dragados, Oficemen (Cement manufacturers' Group of Spain), Acciona Infraestructuras, Eiffage Infraestructuras, Euroconsult, FCC Construcción, Ferrovial Agromán, Grupo Isolux Corsán, and OHL.  

In addition to the international public recognition that comes with this award, it is important to mention the economic endowment: 12,000 Euros for the winning project.
