High modulus bitumen
Having carefully selected the crude oil to be used, Repsol YPF has made available to its customers a high-viscosity bitumen, which, as well as allowing the possibility of obtaining mixtures with a high rigidity modulus -over twice as high as that of a conventional mixture-, has excellent resistance to distress through fatigue and therefore a greater capacity for absorbing stress, which allows for a reduction in the thickness and therefore an overall reduction in the cost of laying the road surface.High modulus bitumen has the following applications:
- Base coats for new road surfaces.
- Reinforcement or partial reconstruction of road surfaces.
- In an intermediate anti-rutting layer, when a layer with reduced thickness is used as a wearing course.
- When use is made of marginal materials.
