Fuel-resistant bitumen

AerodromeFuel-resistant bitumen is a binder specially designed for producing mixtures that are applied in areas where there are frequent spillages of fuel or lubricants. These are generally zones used for the loading/unloading of fuel in industrial areas, airports and service stations or parking lanes/ car park areas.

Hydrocarbons produce a loss of cohesion in the asphalt mixture, which consequently causes the mixture to deteriorate. Road surfaces made with conventional bitumens have very little resistance against the dissolution of the asphaltic bitumen and therefore against the disintegration of the surface due to the effects of the traffic.

In order to combat the deterioration suffered by the bitumen applied in areas that come into frequent contact with these hydrocarbons, Repsol YPF, using the latest available technology, is developing the fuel-resistant bitumen BAC 35/50, which is extremely resistant to attacks by the most common fuels.

It is applied primarily in areas that come into frequent contact with hydrocarbons: taxiways, airport zones, bus lanes, car parks or long-term parking areas for fleets, motorway tolls, service stations, garages, etc.
