Repsol YPF has developed a comprehensive range of Polymer Modified Bitumens, which covers all of the types mentioned in article 215 of the PG-3, as well as other specific products. The majority of our modified bitumens are produced using a cross-linking system developed in-house, which provides a microscopically homogeneous structure and guarantees their stability in storage.
The Repsol YPF group also has wide experience in developing polymers for all types of applications. Both Repsol Química and Dynasol are leading companies, Repsol Química in the field of polyolefins and Dynasol in that of elastomers.
The modification of bitumens with polymers allows for the production of bituminous mixtures with greater mechanical and functional features, which enable roads to be adapted to the increase in traffic and the resulting higher demands, providing greater durability and a saving in maintenance costs.
The modified bitumens are manufactured at the installations of Repsol Lubricantes y Especialidades S.A. Exhaustive checks on the raw materials ensure continuity in the levels of product quality, as well as a regular supply for the customers.
These bitumens are sold on the market under the name of Modifal, in accordance with the Spanish specifications set out in the Ministry of Public Works' Technical Specifications Document.
Modified bitumens have various applications and are used in particular in the manufacture of drainage mixes, discontinuous mixtures for thin layers, anti-cracking mixes, modified bitumen emulsions, etc.
