The working cycle of diesel engines is made up of the following phases: air intake, compression, fuel injection-combustion, expansion and exhaust.

  • Air intake in the cylinders.
  • Compression of air in the cylinders; increase in pressure and air temperature.
  • Fuel injection at the time of maximum compression.
  • Auto-inflammation of the fuel. The fuel burns and combustion is produced.
  • Expansion and exhaust of combustion gases.

The fuel injection process is the deciding factor in achieving an optimum combustion which, in turn, allows high performance, reduced fuel consumption and low polluting emissions to be obtained. With modern injection systems and the use of suitable fuels in these new technologies this proposal is achieved.
