
Plastic films have turned apparently non-productive land into modern agricultural exploitations. A clear example of this is the province of Almería (Spain), which has passed from using subsistence agricultural techniques to become one of Europe´s main areas in the production of vegetables. This spectacular change has been possible with the construction of a great number of greenhouses that make Almería a model for agricultural development. Both plastic films and Repsol YPF have had a lot to do with this and other similar cases in several locations around the world.
