The Cartegena industrial complex, thanks to the effort invested in continuous improvement of the installations and the incorporation of the lastest technologies, has continuously offered the best products with the highest quality, anticipating the demands of the markets and the environmental and safety regulations.
The refinery processing capacity is 5.5 million tonnes annually. It is made up of two main areas, one of the production of fuels and the other of lubricant bases, asphalts, paraffins and aromatic oils. Besides this, it has a Cogeneration electrical power plant and additional services such as water processing, product storage, maritime terminal, etc.
The Commodities and storage park, with a total capacity of 2.430.000 m3, is made up of three storage areas: the Crude Oil terminal station, with 25 tanks and an approximate capacity of 2.000.000m3, the Finished Products station, with 20 tanks, and the Petrol Terminal, with 13 tanks.
The Marine Terminal, in the dock Escombreras del Puerto de Cartagena, has the capacity to receive ships with a depth of up to 21 metres and 270.000 TIM. It can move more than fourteen million tonnes a year, representing 75% of the Cartagena traffic.
The Cartagena industrial complex is at the head of the Pipeline, from where it sends the necessary crude oil for production in the Puertollano industrial complex (7.5 million MT).
It has three pumping stations that are operated from the Cartagena control centre with an impulsion power of some 16.000 Kw. It also has a total of 21 automatic shut-off valves, all fitted with the best in automation technology.
The installation's security system should also be highlighted, as it allows the whole installation to be controlled from the security department, as well as from the refinery's control room.
