Safety

Repsol YPF devotes considerable resources to improving safety has set a goal of zero accidents in their operations.

Despite the efforts made, in 2007 we have had to mourn 12 fatal accidents in the course of our activities in Argentina, Spain, Ecuador and Peru, all of them personnel of contracted companies. Five of those deaths were due to traffic accidents.

However, the proceedings being made in the company itself have allowed for a reduction in the number of accidents involving loss of days, of both employees and contractors.

In 2007, the Lost Time Injury Frequency (LTIF) of accidents involving sick leave for Repsol YPF’s employees (1.9) decreased by 24% compared to 2006, thereby fulfilling the yearly established target and the strategic objective set by the company for 2009 two years in advance.

Lost Time FI Employees

In this regard, it is worth noting the remarkable improvement of LTIF with employees in the business of LPG Worldwide, with a decrease of 45% compared to 2006.

Concerning the integrated LTIF of accidents with sick leave (employees and contractors) the result- 2.4- is 8% lower than that obtained in 2006, also fulfilling the yearly target established.
